there is no way this is real.

I don't know of anything worse than the death of a friend. Today, I believe this more than ever.

I found out this morning that a good friend of mine, Max, died yesterday afternoon. This news came from out of nowhere. He was 23, healthy and vibrant. He started a sweet sustainable gardening program at Sound View and was the craziest guy I know.

News like this is generally devastating. I'm pretty crushed. I'm switching between moments of surreality and overwhelming stress.

Max, 23, was a member of Woodland Park Presbyterian Church in Seattle. He was a faithful, generous, talented young man who was passionate about helping the camp, kids and congregations learn about God and creation by practicing sustainable gardening. We are heartbroken for his family and friends, and will do everything we can to support them in their grief. Please join us in prayer for God's presence, Christ's peace, and the Holy Spirit's comfort to surround all who loved Max.

Its taking its toll on everyone who knew him. I'm pretty sure we're all thinking "this can't be real".

I miss you Max. I love you so much. I don't know how I will go on without you but I will have to... I know that you're enjoying all the "heavenly treasures" you told me you were storing up. Be Well.
